Unlike services that only provide total gross wage data, UC Alternative provides the level of detail most verifiers expect. We break down wage information into various categories—like regular wages, overtime, sick leave, and paid vacation—and allow verifiers to enter up to 10 other wage types to cover unique situations.

An employee can also request portal access and download one free report each year to view any verification requests made on their behalf, approve pending verification requests, dispute errors, and lock or unlock access to their data. And they can rest easy knowing we’ll never resell their data.
Getting started as an employer is easy
Set Up
Setting up your company to use our verification service as an employer is fast and simple. To get started, we need a minimum of three years of payroll data in a format we can import into our systems. We build a historical file from that data extract and update the data every payroll cycle. We also keep current with all applicable regulations, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
Roll Out
Then we work with you to roll out the service, ensuring your team understands how to refer verification requests to UC Alternative. You can direct verifiers to our website with a link directly from yours or provide our URL during phone calls or when requests come in via email.

Validation
When a company or agency contacts us to verify employment or wages for one of your current or former employees, we conduct a one-time validation screening before granting them access. The verifier must provide certain details about their organization and confirm there is a permissible purpose for obtaining the requested data and a signed release. Our team validates the verifier’s information within 24 hours or less. An approved verifier can then access our system securely, input the employee’s name, social security number, and other identifying information, and request a verification report.
We take data security seriously
UC Alternative applies rigorous measures and advanced technology to secure all employee information accessible through our portal.
We store the data on private servers in commercial Tier 4 data centers, encrypting it at rest and in transit, and conduct regularly scheduled vulnerability tests and penetration tests of our systems. The data centers meet stringent industry standards including ISO/IEC 27001; SOC 1, 2, and 3; PCI DSS Level 1; and NIST 800-53. And since users can’t access our systems without undergoing a validation check first, we keep unauthorized users from obtaining payroll records.
Our process even builds in more layers of security at the time the approved verifier makes a request. If the verifier inputs employee information that doesn’t match our records, they can’t proceed further. We also review every verification request before releasing the data, unlike apps that automatically issue reports.
